Vitrines are a layout for seduction. They stage curated objects as charged, desired symbols. Fantasizing about the role of the Fashion Editor and the Painter, Beatriz Gomes de Pinho uses the exhibition space to style together fashion, image and product into form through painting and systematic erasure.

Both fashion and painting operate within the logic of display, where trends repeat and styles are recontextualized. Gomes de Pinho confronts the commodification of fashion and art through the manipulation of surface and perception. Investigating the surface as the absence of background and foreground, she treats painting and image as layers of visual fields and patterned grounds.

Beatriz Gomes De Pinho is studying at the Fine Arts department, and was selected through the call for applications this academic year.
