When: 19 June – 24 July

Opening: Thursday 19 June, 17:00h

Where: Eight Cubic Meters, Sint Nicolaasstraat, Amsterdam

Antrianna Moutoula’s work is primarily language-based, unfolding across performance, video, radio, writing, and installation. She approaches language as a confined space and develops artistic methods that map its boundaries and create openings for moving beyond them.

Central to her current research is a performance methodology she calls nonstop languaging: a continuous tracing of thought through simultaneous talking and writing. Rooted in autotheory, this process seeks to articulate the continuous present within the ephemeral encounter between performer and spectator. The result is an overload of words: repeated, memorized, unfinished, or invented, all seeking their own linearity.

With LANG U AGE I SAC ON FINED SPACE, Moutoula turns for the first time to material installation as a means of engaging with this ephemeral practice. She isolates the keyboard—an essential element of her performance setup—and transforms it from a tool to write with into an object that can be read. Through the rearrangement of keycaps, the keyboard becomes a site where text is disassembled and recomposed.

Here, language becomes physical—sculpted, fragmented, and suspended in space. Words stretch, break, recombine. By bringing together the keyboards with printed traces from her live performances in the windows of Eight Cubic Meters, she invites us to inhabit a porous terrain, where language resists containment and meaning remains in motion.
