Starting Now!
On Thursday 21 November, the second session of Life after Rietveld and Sandberg: Starting Now! was hosted by Jens Pfeifer (Head of the Large Glass dept., Rietveld Academie). He was joined by Jeanne Vrastor and Miquel Hervás Gómez, both alums from Rietveld/Sandberg. Watch the recording of this session below.
They shared their personal experiences about life after the academy. It was a session about self-employment, discussing topics like commercial work, galleries, assignments, side jobs and taxes. In particular, they focused on the planning of a future professional life while still being a student.
Miquel Hervás Gómez
Miquel is both Rietveld and Sandberg alum. He is graphic designer, works at the bookbinding workshop and is tutor at the Preparatory Course, as well as at Gengdan Academy of Design Beijing.
Jeanne Vrastor
Jeanne Vrastor graduated from Sandberg’s Dirty Art Department in 2021 and is an artist based in Amsterdam. She is also working in other countries and assists other artist in their work.
Life After Rietveld and Sandberg
Together with the departments, Rietveld and Sandberg organised a series of monthly sessions to prepare students and recent graduates for professional practice after their studies. By inviting both experts and alums, the series aimed to give participants a clearer idea of what professional practice they aspire to and what their first steps will be after graduation. The programme was open to Rietveld and Sandberg students as well as alums who have recently (less than 5 years) graduated.
