Thesis: The Same-Tile Theory of Memory
I feel as though there is a paradox with money: a banknote is a piece of printed matter, essentially empty, yet this emptiness generates real, physical violence. I noticed that the German word schein means both “banknote” and “illusion” and afterwards became interested in the way that schein folds physically into somebody’s body, as well as intangibly into debt.
