Thesis: Camp as a methodology against surveillance capitalism
Plachandry is a visual reckoning with the Maliszewski's hometown of Tczew. Through large-scale self-portraits and architectural imagery, the project chronicles a deeply personal journey from camouflage to self-expression. To survive a homophobic upbringing, the artist initially adopted the hypermasculine persona "Adrian B." After relocating to Amsterdam and finding a queer Polish immigrant community, this survival tactic evolved into drag, using makeup to embody exaggerated hometown characters. Ultimately, Plachandry is both a love letter and a confrontation - dissecting a beloved hometown that shaped the artist, yet simultaneously excluded queerness at its core, denying the artist full presence within it.
