It Spins and Springs in the Tank is a constellation of three works brought together through video, sculpture, sound, and projection. The exhibition unfolds as a strange and unstable world where systems of orientation begin to drift.
In Couid be said to move, could be said to stand still a rotating body and rotating space gradually transform a room into a wave-like movement. In Traveling Signal a fragile structure made from stitched toast bread receives and transmits a flickering signal that drifts between information and noise. Taking inspiration from the saying Bread and Circus the work asks what happens to news and transmitted information when it travels through channels linked to entertainment.
In No Wonder You Feel Dizzy traces of movements of an old ritual around a spring and an amusement park build on top start to appear in a water laboratory where waves are studied and translated into electronic signals and a scientist is drawn away from the screens and into the water. The video follows movements as they travel through different bodies, materials, and technologies. Dances become carousels, a myth of a spirit becomes a plastic figure, waves become signals, and traces of collective gatherings re-emerge within systems of measurement and control.
Throughout the works, systems designed to orient, measure, and communicate begin to shift. Moving between play and control, participation and observation, the works ask how movement changes form as it travels through bodies, technologies, and collective histories.
