Using objects collected from various sources and drawing on my research in ceramics, I create settings inspired by the aesthetics of science-fiction movies from the 1970’s –1980’s. Through these constructed décors, I explore how we imagine other worlds and question how fantastical universes remain rooted in the materials, forms, behaviors, codes, and narratives of our own reality. These works explore the limits of our ability to free ourselves from these references and cultural biases when inventing alternative planets or life forms, and the ways in which the fantastical can emerge.

The protagonists of The Incredible Adventures of Hank are insects staged as characters in a science-fiction saga, and become vessels for recurring cinematic archetypes : the golden-hearted hero, the comic-sidekick, the super-villain. This allows me to question our relationship to otherness, to the unknown creature, or to the being from another world, often fantasized about yet familiarized through the narrative structures we project onto it.

These works examine our need and tendency to impose meaning on what lies beyond our understanding. The poster series extends this inquiry by challenging dominant representations of extraterrestrial life, often imagined as technologically superior, metallic, and shaped by masculine ideals of power. Instead of advanced beings, I portray ceramic aliens engaged in unspectacular situations and social routines, questioning the assumptions through which we imagine other worlds and the cultures that inhabit them. Ultimately, those works ask whose perspective shapes mainstream science-fiction imaginaries, and what remains unseen beyond them.
