Thesis: How to Make Sense of Nonsense
Location at Graduation: RV 105, 108, Outside at entrance
Fadri Lorenzo Tommaso Brunner (b. 2001, BE) is a Swiss-Italian artist based between Amsterdam and Bern. Working with paint, wood, clay, and various printing techniques, he creates a visual language rooted in drawing. At the core of Brunner’s practice is an interest in the tragicomic nature of the human condition, a theme he approaches through playful gestures and elements of absurdity. In the works exhibited at the Rietveld Graduation Show, Brunner imagines a scenario in which ducks begin wearing boots and gain consciousness, attempts to see the world through the eyes of the “Nowhere Man,” reflects on existential crises from the perspective of life-sized palm trees, and poses the question: Was this trip really necessary?
