"What are you doing? Where is he going? " is one video split into two screens. One showing a character being stalked through a big crowd, carrying a bag, aimlessly wandering to wherever he's going, unbothered and steadfast. On the second screen is a stream of consciousness, an unhinged flow of text that covers thoughts, statements, and poetry. The sentences flash by quickly and blend together in an enigmatic way to elevate the bizarre nature of the themes that the work touches on:
How our lives are integrated with the digital sphere.
How these two spaces rapidly are growing closer, and how we as a modern society navigate through this new and altered reality with curiosity and naivety. I've always found fascination and amusement in our attempt to communicate struggles and hardship through internet jokes, and how one can hide behind a mask while simultaneously being unfiltered and honest, using the meme as a vessel. The text and the style I chose for the edit are inspired by the design of memes and YouTube videos. I'm utilizing these languages and recontextualizing them in a mundane, confronting, and frustrating manner.
