Thesis: I Need Silence
My project is an architectural installation that explores isolation, self-care, and depression through space, form, and materiality. Inspired by dome architecture in religious spaces, anechoic chambers, and organic textures, it creates an environment where emotional release is both intimate and amplified. The 5m x 5m structure features a central sculptural piece, a surrounding circulation zone with arches and pillars, and four self-portrait paintings resembling windows—inviting viewers to reflect on vulnerability and self-exploration.
Inside the installation, visitors enter a hushed, enclosed space that evokes introspection. The architecture and textures create a quiet emotional tension, offering space to feel, reflect, and momentarily let go.
Materially, the installation is built from a base of concrete blocks and metal frames, providing weight and stability. These are softened and transformed through layers of acoustic foam, painted wooden shapes, and textiles—including crochet and knitted elements. Some components were made individually, while others were created in collaboration with people close to me—infusing the space with shared care and presence, but fragility.
By inviting others into this personal cocoon, I also surrender a part of its control—allowing their presence to subtly affect its emotional and physical integrity.
