(De)composing traces is focusing on the similarities of life cycles in nature through a comparison of seashells and plastic. One born in the sea, the other manmade on land, they cross paths in the oceans and dissolve, degrade, destruct over time: From raw materials they take form naturally or are manufactured, thereafter degrading to calcium carbonate, micro-plastic by nature and us. By the use of clay, cyanotype, plastic and up-cycled fishing net, Klaudia Kaźmierczak’s installation creates a symbolic landscape that offers the opportunity to reflect on the materials and environments around us.
