Thesis: On Soil and Borders

In the work, Adoration of the Hidden / in Plain Sight, I research the collaboration between human/ man-made architectural attributes and natural agents like water and erosion; highlighted in the shape of a pipe. The installation brings that which was meant to be unnoticed, at the centre of attention.

The work is an installation consisting of different pipes composed in a manner to make the boundaries between construction and destructive processes more tangible. It is questioning what is being transported, where it was extracted, what journey it has travelled and where it will end up. Metaphorically speaking these drainage systems reflect on the ephemeral nature of systems and their precariousness.

Throughout the room leaking, rusted ceramic pipes create a space where the foundation of care, transformation, transience and construction exist alongside each other.
