Thesis: A Dreamstorm
'''Be The Moon For Me?'' is a short art-musical, a mix of music-installation-theatre. The performance is a collage of various scenes, put together with the music as glue, and set in a fantasy world. I hope to transport the audience to an imaginative place, a different reality that you will visit for 20 minutes.
The methodology of this project was important for the final work, as the script has been developed from ''playdays'': Workshops in which we were searching in the unknown for ''magic'', as I believe this can be found in the unknown. The ideas that came out of these sessions were then used as building blocks for inbetween-performances and eventually the final musical. The playdays had as aim to get comfortable with the unknown, and thats also what the final musical is about. Learning to trust something we don't know yet or that's out of our control. Daring to dream further than what we already know, through co-creation.
The music of the musical is a mix of absurdist and pop music that I composed, and will be accompanied by an hoboist and a violinist.
The musical has 3 main characters: a moon, a piece of the moon that broke off, and a bird looking to experience an inner utopia while balancing letting go of control of their emotions.
