The practices through which we seek connection, comfort, and control. The places we return to in search of a momentary sense of peace. Seeking silence through chaos or noise. Drawn to noise as a means of quieting the self.Sometimes the desire is not to stand out, but to dissolve into the crowd.
'Suffering from Success' adopts the language of the gym, sport, and self-improvement to examine GEN-Z's upbringing on the misleading promises of endless optimisation and hyper individualism.
Framed as an ironic fitness environment, the installation explores how care, discipline, and personal growth are marketed as forms of empowerment while simultaneously becoming obligations imposed upon the body. Leading to body commodification, overwork and exhaustion.
Desire and consumption. This work questions what it means to live in a culture where the self is both project and product.
