Top Coat is the result of a custom-made puzzle in which I playfully explore the hidden worlds of small-scaled objects: garments and nails are born out of experimentation and curiosity.

 

As I move the first puzzle pieces, by drawing and writing extensively, I develop my playing strategies. Then, fixated on fitting all the pieces, I resort to sculpting, pattern drafting, and manipulating. Through the simple act of looking closer, I developed a fascination with nails. The unconfined fake nail and its intricate conceptual and technical construction become a means of translation for a new design approach. By implementing my own experience of doing nails, their coat-by-coat method is applied to garment construction, inspired by the intricacies of a nail.
