Daan Tillie makes sculptures, animations and drawings. In her work she often combines these media. She for instance projects hand drawn animations on wooden sculptures. Vulnerability of the human and the object is an important theme in her work.
She graduated with 'I can’t feel my feet anymore’, an installation comprising wooden sculptures and minimalist animations. The sculptures are characterised by varying degrees of manual processing by the artist. Completely unworked wood is alternated with detailed woodcarvings and animations. The wood used for the sculptures comes from a tree that grew just a few metres from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy.

Daan Tillie maakt sculpturen, animaties en tekeningen. In haar werk combineert ze graag verschillende media. Zo projecteert ze handgetekende animaties op houten sculpturen. De kwetsbaarheid van mensen en objecten is een belangrijk thema in haar werk.
Ze studeerde af met het werk 'Ik voel mijn voeten niet meer'. Een installatie die bestaat uit houten sculpturen en minimale animaties. De sculpturen worden gekenmerkt door de verschillende mate van handmatige bewerking door de kunstenaar. Volledig onbewerkt hout wordt afgewisseld door gedetailleerd houtsnijwerk en animaties. Het hout gebruikt voor de sculpturen is afkomstig van een boom die slechts een paar meter van de Gerrit Rietveld Academie is opgegroeid.
