My work explores the intersection of fashion and art, using garments as a medium for emotional expression and resistance. I see creation as an act of reclaiming agency within capitalism, a system I find hostile. Through fashion craft, I transform frustration and disillusionment into something tactile and meaningful, finding a deep, spiritual connection in the process. My graduation project—a fashion collection and an installation—examines how the historical experiences of women working in fashion shape my own and influence the future. By deconstructing iconic fashion elements (the bow, rope, basket, flower, armour and the color red), I challenge their (gendered) connotations and reimagine them as tools for empowerment. Rather than rejecting history, I engage with it critically, proposing fashion as a transformative force for reclaiming identity and agency.
