Thesis: A Secret Third Thing
Through an office-like installation, INDEX examines how objects acquire meaning through systems of documentation, categorisation and institutional language. Drawing on the visual, spatial and linguistic codes of bureaucratic environments, the work explores how significance is assigned, negotiated and preserved. INDEX presents classification as a continuous and ultimately inconclusive process, while examining the push-and-pull between language as a tool for clarification and language as a mechanism that can obscure, inflate or destabilise meaning.
