1. What are you currently working on?
"I made a scale model of the Eight Cubic Meters exhibition space. This summer Join Collective Clothes will be on view there, with a photo series by Scheltens & Abbenes. JOIN is a project I initiated last year and is realized in collaboration with many others! Now I am playing around with a miniature version of the work and thinking about how to show it to you in a few months. I also made the sock-sweater (see question4) to check if my recommendation actually works – and it does(!) 🧦 _🧦_🧦_🧦 _"
2. What has changed for you now that everyone is working from home?
"The impact of social distance keeps me thinking of how valuable it is to meet others and to share daily activities. Last year I started to share a modular clothing system through an open source manual - designed by Beau Bertens. The idea is to start a collaboration with everyone who is interested – working on a collective collection. Meeting everyone, exchanging ideas and creating together is a very social activity that suddenly feels so far away.."
3. And what is staying the same?
"I am lucky to be able to continue working on projects and staying in touch with people – even though it’s from a distance."
4. Do you have a tip to make these isolating times a bit more joyful?
"Check out this sock-sweater tutorial, originally designed by Maison Martin Margiela. Or check these open source designs from Alexander McQueen, Iris van Herpen, and many others by SHOWstudio. And, you can download the JOIN manual and make a piece for the collective collection.
