The Rietveld Academie and Sandberg Instituut are actively committed to avoid the spread of the Coronavirus. We have formed an internal task force that monitors the situation carefully. We are following GGD guidelines and we closely follow the recommendations of the RIVM (National Institute for Public Health and the Environment) about the Coronavirus. Until the end of summer, the Rietveld Academie is only open to graduate students and employees.

We are happy to announce that the Graduation Show 2020 will take place from 26 August until 30 August. More information here.
What will happen next academic year?
- The full study programme will be offered to all students from the start of the study year on.
- A large part of the study programme can take place on the location of the academy.
- All facilities will be available for students.
Currently, the departments are developing their exact plans for their study programs at the start of the study year. Together, we will be looking to spread the activities that will take place on the location of the academy over the week as much as possible, to make maximal use of space and time. This means, for instance, that also evenings and Saturdays are being considered as possible moments for lessons to take place. We will need to take into account the 1,5 meter distance rule, to make sure everyone can be safe in and around the academy buildings. This brings limitations, but if we use the available space and time wisely, a lot will be possible.
Are there any possibilities for financial support?
We are aware that many of our students face acute financial problems, as they might no longer have income from part-time jobs. Therefore, we have set up the Gerrit Rietveld Academie Corona Fund. Students can apply to the Rietveld Academie for financial support to compensate for the loss of income due to the Corona crisis which cannot be recouped with an extra loan from DUO or under other schemes arranged by the government or the municipality. To find out if you qualify for the Corona Fund, please check the flowchart on the intranet.
Students from the EER can contact DUO to get help.
Graduate students who cannot graduate in July due to the Coronacrisis, but whose final exams will take place in January 2021 at the latest, and who therefore have to re-enrol next academic year, will receive a financial allowance. This financial allowance amounts to a maximum of € 535. For more information follow this link.
If you have problems with paying tuition fee instalments, you can send a request to finance[at]rietveldacademie.nl to come to a suitable arrangement.
Students from outside the EER and students that encounter financial problems that affect you personally, please contact the student counsellor: mirjam.mazurel[at]rietveldacademie.nl.
We follow national legislation and agreements on tuition fees within Dutch higher education. Of course we are dependent on the ministry's decisions on these and other topics. You might want to lobby on this topic with the national student union.
