When I moved to The Netherlands to study I started a project to keep a link with my family and more specifically my mother. For the last years I have been asking people to send her postcards whenever they would travel and to sign this postcards as Diego Diez with the message "I am still alive", as a reference to On Kawara. I felt that of course, they could not control or take care of me as much as when I was living with them, but I wanted to let them know, in some way (even if it was not me) that I was fine.
I would like to ask you if you could send a postcard to my mother the next time you travel, in The Netherlands or somewhere else. I would ask you to choose a very cliché postcard, the one with monuments and those things. In the postcard you need to write:
I am still alive
(Date and time)
(Place and country)
Her address is:
Marisol Peñacoba Martin
C/ Marques de la Valdavia 137 Portal 2 2C
28100 Alcobendas, Madrid
Thanks a lot and please, do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to know anything else about the project.
Have a nice Summer,
