A Future History of Climate Change

During one week in September, 58 graphic design students from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie have worked on climate change in this exhibition space. The students imagined themselves to be in the year 2393. From this year they looked back at our present time and reflected on the immense consequences of global warming: from mass migrations to the development of a CO2-consuming fungus.

The students have worked with the ARTIS-collection and the ARTIS-public as sources of content. The result is an exhibition in which facts, history and speculation collide to create a vivid picture of the climate change problem. In five themes Damage control envisions the massive changes that we face if we do not act fast. The results of the workshop will be on show in the Aquarium from 16 September - 8 January 2018.
