Flat News is a short film in which Meis Vranken investigates life inside her own apartment block, and the language that belongs to it. It is part of the larger Flat News project, that has so far involved musical, literary and performative limbs, and will come together in a Flat News theatre performance this fall.

The episode was broadcast Sunday April 26, 10pm on the local Amsterdam television channel SALTO1 and afterwards available on Vimeo.

About the artist:

Meis Vranken (1997) is a visual artist, musician, writer and filmmaker from Amsterdam. In her work, she uses everyday situations as building blocks for her own poetry. Her first film, The Morning, travelled across film festivals in both Europe and the U.S. She is also known as the singer of art-punk band Yodel Queen, and this September she will perform her first ever theatre piece, Flat News, at the Amsterdam Fringe Festival.

Meis graduated in 2021 from the VAV - moving image department.
