The Rietveld Academie, together with a group of alums, visited the Art Rotterdam, where the Prospects exhibition is on view. This annual presentation by the Mondriaan Fonds brings together the work of emerging artists who have recently received the Artist Start grant, thereby offering a glimpse of a new generation of creators.

During our visit, curator Daphne Verberg gave an introduction to the exhibition. In Verberg’s view, Prospects represents a generation of artists who actively engage with a changing world:

“Prospects 2026 presents a new generation of artists who face a changing world with imagination, care and tremendous energy. […] Their works demonstrate that experimentation and care can go hand in hand, offering a glimpse of alternative futures that are both challenging and full of possibilities.”

During the visit, three Rietveld alums shared their experiences of participating in the exhibition: Gleb(s) Maiboroda, Jeanne Vrastor and Madeleine Elisabeth Peccoux. The latter was recently featured in Het Parool with her project Moonbump, which is currently on display in the exhibition.

Art Rotterdam is open until 29 March at Rotterdam Ahoy. The Prospects exhibition showcases the work of 92 emerging artists. Read more about Prospects here.
