Even on the roof of the Pavilion, a call for submissions is being made, and throughout the academy, the open call is popping up on flyers and posters. It is striking how physically present it is: a printed newspaper that also seeks input through analogue methods. Is this a movement calling for a revaluation of the tangible?
A new team has been formed, ideas are circulating, and the Rietveld Journal is once again widely embraced within the community. The Rietveld Journal team, a student-led initiative, collects submissions from students, staff and alumni: ranging from poems, essays and fiction to interviews, notes, puzzles, drawings, collages and photography.
Alongside independent work, there is also scope for contributions that invite others to build upon them with text and images. The possibilities are endless – as long as they can be captured on paper for this fourth edition.
The journal will be printed and distributed for free, both within the academy and beyond.
The original deadline has now passed, but the open call remains active – until the rain has washed away the text on the Pavilion.
