Pavilion project: Rietveld Got Statement

Martini Selley and Pritam Mitra (Bacicyear and DOGtime, Rietveld Academie) were selected through the Open Call by Public & Projects to take over the Pavilion of the Rietveld Academie one week in February 2026.

Martini Selley and Pritam Mitra initiated the project Rietveld Got Statement, a participatory exhibition that critically engaged with the artist statement.

Rietveld Got Statement

Rather than functioning as a static display, the Pavilion operated as a temporary counter-institution for three days, a space for dissecting, rewriting, and performing art-speak. 

Pritam and Martini presented ten selected artist statements from an open call. In this context, the statements themselves became the artworks. 

Alongside the exhibition, they organised a series of community workshops and guest lectures, all related to the topic.
