The Large Glass department focuses on the implications of glass in the fine arts. The emphasis is mainly on the individual artistic position of the student, who is encouraged to experiment and explore the limits of materiality. We have a strong and unique position in our conceptual approach to glass as a sculptural material in contemporary art. Students are taught ‘reading and writing’, drawing, spatial thinking, critical reflection, art practice and the techniques of glassmaking. Technique is a tool, not an end in itself.
