Mars Quake Project
Experience the seismic vibrations of Mars as received by a NASA API.
Instrument: SEIS (Seismic Experiment for Interior Structure)
Launch/Arrival: InSight landed on Mars on November 26, 2018.
Purpose: SEIS measures marsquakes, vibrations, and seismic waves traveling through the planet, helping scientists understand Mars’ internal structure (core, mantle, crust).
Operator: NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) designed and manages the InSight lander, including SEIS. The instrument itself was provided by a French space agency (CNES) team, with contributions from other international partners.
