This work explores the strained and often conflicted relationship young women may experience with their own bodies. While inherently beautiful and a product of nature, the body is not always perceived as such by those who inhabit it. The painting reflects internalized judgment and self-scrutiny, which can give rise to diminished self-worth, self-destructive behaviors, and the unconscious undermining of social relationships.
