During a festive evening at Museum JAN, the winner of the Amstelveen Council Art Prize was announced for the third time on Thursday 11 July. The prize, an initiative of the city council, is intended to offer young talent from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie a springboard towards a professional artistic practice. This year's winner is Carla Seidemann.

Although Carla unfortunately could not attend the presentation, her name was received with loud applause. To celebrate the shared moment, a group photo was taken of the artists present who had applied for the award. This not only highlighted the winner, but also the broad talent that was present.

The Art Prize aims to encourage young artists to develop and find their place in the cultural field. For the period of one year, the winner will be given space to develop in a project studio in Ateliers 24, the municipal studio building. "With this award, the council shows how important it is to create space for new talent," said Alderman Herbert Raat (arts and culture). "It fits perfectly with our Culture Agenda The City as a Stage - Space for Culture, in which, among other things, we actively support young creators. The great interest among students shows that this award is alive and well. We hope it will grow into a permanent fixture in Amstelveen's cultural landscape."
