The national Commission for the Code of Conduct for Research Integrity (CWI-KUO) monitors the integrity of research conducted at art academies. The Netherlands Code of Conduct for Research Integrity (2018) contains the principles of research integrity, the standards for good research practices and the duties of care of the academy.
The principles in the Code of Conduct are:
- Honesty
- Scrupulousness
- Transparency
- Independence
- Responsibility
The academy ensures that researchers can work in a safe, inclusive and open environment in which they can discuss research dilemmas and mistakes made and feel responsible and accountable. The duties of care concern training and supervision, the research culture, proper data management, the publication and dissemination of research material and research results, and ethical standards and procedures.
The duties of the CWI-KUO are described in the ‘Academic integrity Complaints Regulation for Universities of the Arts’. Are you considering filing a complaint? Then first contact the confidential advisor for scientific integrity: jaap.vinken@rietveldacademie.nl.
Non-compliance with the Code of Conduct can lead to sanctions.
