Priscille Rosier (VAV - moving image, Gerrit Rietveld Academie) and Andie Lee (Graphic Design, Gerrit Rietveld Academie) were selected through the Open Call by Public & Projects to take over the Pavilion of the Rietveld Academie in January 2025.

We kept asking questions—sometimes playfully, sometimes seriously—and discussed painful experiences while our eyes sparkled with curiosity. In that process, we were both very similar and very different people.

Hanami is a short essay-documentary that delves into themes of culture, language, and the ephemerality of life. Through the voices of two narrators from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds, the film explores how their dialogue leads to connection that transcend divisions and foster meaningful understanding.

Following the screening, participants could engage in an interactive workshop inspired by the film’s central theme. This session introduced their "alternative dialogue technique," a reflective approach designed to encourage authentic communication and deeper connections across diverse identities and perspectives.
