A creature of habit searches meaning and correlation in a meaningless existence. A message from the vacuous unknown brings them back to the time and place where it all began. In the cradling comfort of a celestial friend they realize: You cannot bear the burden of another or change the outcome of your predetermined fate.

Fanja Bouts is this year’s second alumna that we chose, her work is filled with rich tapestries of chaos and sincerity, with characters and elements who are only urging to pop out and invade reality. The work tackles this year’s theme Two Truths and a Lie with a very intriguing but also very congruent approach, with a look at the contemplations and thoughts of these characters.
