Thesis: A rolling stone gathers no moss
Last year, 2025, residents of the Stadionkade came together to oppose the felling of 17 trees on a neighbouring plot of the Rietveld Academie – now a building site. Their fight defended values of stewardship, care, and our responsibility toward non-human life in the city.
The last tree, no 940000, was cut down on October 3rd 2025.
This work carries the tree’s legacy forward and asks those who lived with it to remain attentive to its ongoing transformation.
Through the stools the fresh wood, now supported by elm, will find its way back to the neighbors. Over time, it will continue to move, crack, and respond to its environment.
