When you start your first year in September 2023 at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie you can make use of the STAP budget. You can apply for a reimbursement of up to € 1000,- per year to use for training. This allowance replaces the tax deduction for study costs in the income tax.

The STAP budget is limited an is divided over 5 application periods. At the Gerrit Rietveld Academie you can only apply between 1 May and 3 September (within 3 months before the start of the program)

Who is the STAP budget for?

√ You are between the age of 18 and the pensionable age

√ At the time of the application, you will not receive any other funding in the field of education, such as student finance, teacher’s grant or compensation for school costs for adults

√ For the master course and bachelor fulltime course you need to older than 30.

√ You are an EU citizen or partner of an EU citizen

√ You are insured for at least 6 months for the national insurances in the period of 2 years in 3 months prior to the subsidy application

• What is the STAP budget?

o STAP stands for STimulans Labour Market Position. With the STAP budget, the government wants to help people to develop during their career. As an employee, self-employed person or job seeker, you are more likely to keep your job, find a new job or to develop yourself further. 

o The government makes a total budget of approximately 200 million euros available annually, with which approximately 200,000 people can pay for (part of) their education.

• When can I apply for the STAP budget?

o You can apply for the STAP budget five times a year in 2022.

o Good to know: 

- Your study programme starts at least four weeks after you have applied for your STAP budget. This is to be able to offer certainty that the STAP budget can be allocated before your training starts

- Your study programme starts no later than three months after the relevant application period

- You can only apply with a STAP Registration Certificate:

    * Bachelor Fulltime

    * Bachelor Parttime (Dogtime)

    * Master FAD

    * Master I

    * Orientationcourse

    * Preperatory Course
