Thesis: The Ends of the Time Meet at the Beginning
"I sway like a long, thin reed, shaken without purpose by the winds and waves of the world. Even within this darkness, as I moved further from where I came, I found myself returning, again and again, trembling, to the things that were once a moment and then became eternal. Along that path, I have often lost my way and perhaps, lost myself.
Within this disorientation, there are inherited traces that continue to guide me. Standing here, slowly losing the sense of home, I gathered the fragments of memory and built from them a space that no longer exists but that I keep returning to, bending space and time, collapsing the distance between here and home, now and then. And it is from here the work departs: the memory of my grandparents' house in Korea, with a door whose proportions stretched to a ratio of 1 to 5, still present in me as a site of longing.
The project begins there: in that return."
