Thesis: the garden of mouth
What lives beneath is a ceramic installation that draws attention to the hidden yet visible life beneath the asphalt. A root pushes up against the weight of the road, reminding us that we aren’t the only species that deserve space, and that our pursuit of efficiency often excludes other forms of life.
The asphalt carries us all day long, from place to place in a heavily- passed world, a tree and its roots stand seemingly still admit all the chaos. Beneath the surface, a root navigates a motionless sea of asphalt and efficiency. Its presence creates waves and movement, disrupting what appears fixed and immovable.
As trees quietly reclaim space and resist our domination, the road becomes a living fossil. It reveals the enduring power of life to adapt, endure, and ultimately reshape the world above it.
