Thesis: Fictional Mutations

"Frère lune et Sœur soleil: mutation fictionnelle" is a 15 minutes film about my Korean heritage. It is a documentation of my physical reconnection with this part of my identity, a modern version of a classic Korean tale, and a hommage to my late grandmother.
Read in the film by my great-aunt, the Korean tale follows two kids who, chased by a tiger, end up becoming the Sun and the Moon. This story was told to me many times by my grandmother who passed away in April 2024.
While the main body of the tale is illustrated by footage I captured in Seoul and Busan, the later part of the film features wide-angle studio shots and heavy strobe-lights. It is a contemporary approach of the tale's outcome: how to translate the mutation of human-beings into the Sun and the Moon into film.
The film and its title also connects to my thesis on fictional mutations in science-fiction.
