Thesis: What do flames and grandchildren have in common?

An immense cycle of vitality, which one might witness with sight or other senses

The recent work of Inkeri Virtanen delves into the unseen reality as a process of unveiling, a reality that is experienced through the veil. The presence of veil in her work is not essentially a covering that hides but a way of seeing that reveals. A solid dense wood hangs in the space like a testimonial of an imaginal unseen realm; an inspiration being carved out from the grain of the wood, a conversation that moves back and forth inward and outward through the hand of the artist. The artist becomes the medium, a vessel.
